  • This is easier said than done when there are tasks you must accomplish. I admit this. But it can still be done. The key is the word focus. You can still be achieving your goals with your actions, while turning your focus to the present and enjoying the aspects of the work that you love. For example, I was talking to my sister @sarahnlachance recently, and we were discussing SEO and how it dehumanizes the simple act of bringing people to a place to share ideas. In the world of SEO, the people are "traffic" and the ideas are "content" and everything must be "optimized" for the "algorithms." It can feel defeating and stressful. If you were working on SEO and feeling that way, how could you focus on what you love? Well, I have some ideas. Are you learning about SEO? Are you taking notes? Do you enjoy note taking? There's something to focus on. Are you auditing a website to see its strength and weaknesses? Do you enjoy making lists? There you go. Are you less of a data-driven and more of a human-driven person? Focus on the fact that the "traffic" aka PEOPLE are out there, looking to connect, to have an experience, to be treated with dignity. Imagine you're ushering them along the internet. Neither of you are alone. You are helping people, even if you don't see them in front of you. And if none of that is something you can love, keep trying. Maybe you love the place, the actual physical space you work in or the view. Maybe you love being needed or being valuable or being productive. I believe the point is, you can find the presence of mind to love what you do, and if you can't...
